“Oh, Araeia like a-raaay-of light ! ”
-EVERYONE
Araeia (a-ray-uh) is a Philly bred, LA based director, screenwriter, storyteller and graduate of Temple University's School of Film & Media Arts. Heavily influenced by hippie parents and the rich music and art scene of her hometown— her soulful narrative style centers the power, beauty and intersectional experiences of women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ communities and all underrepresented voices. She is most passionate about showcasing the extraordinary in the ordinary through the lens of magical realism.
An alum of the AICP and DGA sponsored CDDP Fellowship Program , Araeia’s wheelhouse ranges from brand development to directing commercials, documentaries and films for clients like Paramount+, Gillette, Shea Moisture, Vogue and more. She has creative directed for global brand leaders at Google, Coke, Aspirin for agencies like Brazilian based MESA, Berlin based 17 Sport and LA based Passerine.
For Araeia, directing is a creative meditation that invites both viewer and filmmaker to exist as their fullest selves. When she’s not onset, you can find her plant procuring, pole dancing, sharing stories on your favorite panel or podcast— or writing at a Black owned cafe.
